Teeth & Tongue announces 'Greatest Hurts' Melbourne party and premieres new live video via The Music
Teeth & Tongue is the music project of songwriter and instrumentalist Jess Cornelius. Over the course of four critically-acclaimed albums, Teeth & Tongue has gradually morphed from a solo project into a more collaborative ‘band-like’ affair, with long-time collaborators Marc Regueiro-McKelvie, Damian Sullivan and James Harvey. Their 2016 album Give Up On Your Health was named 3RRR Album of the Week and Double J Feature Album, and was nominated for a J Award and The Australian Music Prize.
Now, Jess Cornelius is heading to the USA to focus on a new ‘actually solo’ project under her own name, with material that is more stripped back, personal and lyrically direct. To say goodbye (for a while), Teeth & Tongue are throwing a farewell ‘Greatest Hurts’ party at the Gasometer on August 4th. They’ll be playing songs from all four Teeth & Tongue albums: Monobasic, Tambourine, Grids and Give Up On Your Health.
Joining them for the good times are Loose Tooth and Gregor, plus Venetian Blinds DJs (Phoebe Taylor and Liam Linney).
In addition, today Teeth & Tongue have premiered a live video for 'Turn Turn Turn' via The Music. The performance was filmed at the band's Dot Dash session at Newmarket Studios earlier this year. Watch the video below.

DOWNLOAD FIRST SINGLE 'DIANNE' HERE
"With Teeth & Tongue’s fourth album, Give Up on Your Health, Jess Cornelius has crafted kitchen-sink dramas and relationship vignettes that follow a lineage from Ken Loach through Jarvis Cocker. Even in her darkest hour, Cornelius can’t help but rule with a pop aesthetic. It’s most apparent in the urgent first single ‘Dianne’ – a glam-stomping answer to Blondie’s ‘Denis’, best sung into a hairbrush in front of the bedroom mirror (although scratch the surface and the lyrics aren’t as peppy as they seem)." –Jenny Valentish
GIVE UP ON YOUR HEALTH is out in September 2016 via Dot Dash/Remote Control in Australia/NZ and Captured Tracks in the USA. Available worldwide.
NEW SINGLE 'DIANNE' PREMIERES ON ROOKIE and FASTER LOUDER
Says Faster Louder: "The song captures an eerie, detached mood, while still retaining Jess Cornelius’s penchant for soaring vocal. It’s a cavalcade of stuttering keys and wandering guitar licks, coming together for a barrelling sense of cohesive momentum. It’s a fully-realised, full band affair, showcasing Teeth & Tongue’s evolution from Cornelius’s solo project into a five-piece outfit."
We're currently recording a new Teeth & Tongue album. Stay tuned and see ya soon.

Still in Istanbul! But we've got a new track and video out, called Cupcake.
It was recorded between Melbourne and Sakagastrond, North Iceland, in Feb 2015. Kind of a long story.
Feb 1st 2015
Jess is currently in a fishing village in North Iceland taking part in the Nes Artist Residency. It's a bit of a trip. Lots of photos and updates and things are going up on the facebook and instagram pages, so that's a good place to go if you're interested. It's wacky as hell out there.
We had a pretty magical time playing Meredith Music Festival on December 12th. There are some great run-downs of the festival here and here— including War On Drugs, De La Soul, Ghostface Killah, Sleep and Factory Floor.
GRIDS – NOW AVAILABLE ON VINYL HERE
NEW TOUR DATES ANOUNCED HERE!
Including a national tour with VANCE JOY, shows at WHITE NIGHT 2014, a very special TEETH & TONGUE single launch in Melbourne with video artist KEITH DEVERELL, and a slot at the essential festival BOOGIE 2014.
Jess is off to do an artist residency at NES in Skagastrond, Iceland at the end of January. She'll be holed up in a tiny fishing village for three months, working on the next record and eating dried herring. A huge thanks to The Copyright Agency for their financial contribution to this project through their Cultural Fund. What a bunch of legends.
Can't wait for this.
Solo project-slash-five-piece-band Teeth & Tongue is stoked to announce their final headline show of the year this November 15th at the Shadow Electric Bandroom. Having already made a handful of ‘Best Album’ lists for latest release ‘Grids’, finished three national tours and set to play Meredith Music Festival in December, the band is wrapping up a big year with a special spring show at the beautiful Abbotsford Convent. Featuring Jess Cornelius with long-term collaborators Marc Regueiro-McKelvie, Damian Sullivan, James Harvey and vocalist Jade McInally, the band will perform a handful of new songs plus tracks from Teeth & Tongue’s last two albums. Special guests on the night include Kangaroo Skull (My Disco’s Rohan Rebeiro) The Ancients, and Time For Dreams (Tom Carlyon and Amanda Roff)—plus a free kanga banga barbie.

Newborn is officially out! Our new single came out last Friday through the lovely people at Remote Control Records, thanks guys! It features my beautiful pal Laura Jean, and might be about spiritual enlightenment gained from reading self-help books, but don't tell anyone. Get it from iTunes here.

Things are getting really exciting. The new album's mastered and it's been sent to the Czech Republic for pressing: tests arrived this week and they sound A-OK. So far so good.
The CD masters are at the manufacturer, the artwork's in (despite a few hiccups) and the new single's getting pressed as you read this. Wowsers.
January 20th, 2014.
Happy New Year! It's been a very busy, and very exciting time for us here at Teeth & Tongue. The new album is finished (!!!) although it won't be out for a wee bit yet (we're looking at late March).
The incredible Lucy Dyson created the artwork for it... but I can't put it up just yet! can tell you that it does feature a MOONSCAPE though. There'll be a new single and video coming out soon.
T&T member Marc Regueiro Mckelvie (aka Popolice) is in New Zealand at the moment, playing at the incredible Camp A Low Hum music festival in Feb. And we've got a bunch of shows coming up, including the brain-scraping Boogie festival in April. Oh Lordy.
More stuff, more photos, more love coming soon.
December 12th, 2013
The lovely people at AIR have made Teeth & Tongue a feature song. They say: "Now they’ve released undeniably (in our eyes) one of the best songs of 2013. The jaw-droppingGood Man. We’ve never heard a song like it before. The star is the arrangement - A single organ, a smattering of feedback, some gated drums and Jess’ multi-layered, multi-textured vocals dominating out front. Breathtaking stuff."

Many thanks to the brilliant crowd who came down to T&T's Good Man single release party a few weeks back—there were glowing pyramids, shouted marriage proposals and no falling down the stairs. Success!
The special-edition 'Good Man' tees were also a bit of a hit, we nearly sold out! Here's a pic of some handsome man wearing one:
But you can still get your hands on one by going here:
They match the Good Man singles that we sold on the night, with Jonnine Standish-designed art, and you can get these from Bandcamp too, or at shows.

Jess is taking part in the National Gallery of Victoria's 'Wired For Melbourne Sound' exhibition, which involves various melbourne musicians coming together to create an EP of new music over four weeks in a specially-built studio within the gallery. Crazy.
The show also includes video and cover art exhibits, and a live gig to kick things off on October 3rd. (See gigs)
THe exhibition runs from September 28 at the NGV, Melbourne. More details here: http://www.ngv.vic.gov.au/whats-on/exhibitions/exhibitions/wired-for-melbourne-sound
